Overall Guidelines
All contributors must be 18+ years of age. Applications by individuals younger than eighteen will not be accepted.
We are volunteers. Everyone participating in this project is a volunteer dedicating their hard work, time, and energy to creating something amazing. Be considerate of others and understand that other things in someone's life may take priority over the work of this zine.
Communication is key. If something comes up, let the mod team know! We are more than happy to work with you for any situation.
Keep your workload in mind. Zines are a lot of work! Please keep in mind deadlines, check-ins, and other notes. Don't try to push yourself past your limits when it comes to work. Your personal health comes first!
Be respectful and mindful of others. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated within this project. Any contributor found to be bullying, harassing, or otherwise being rude to another contributor or person within the space may be dismissed from the project.
We communicate via Discord. All contributors must have a Discord account and join our server to participate in our zine. Our team disseminates all important information via Discord, and cannot make exceptions for those that wish to not join the server.
General Application Guidelines
No prior experience is needed to apply. If you have not participated in a zine before, now's your chance!
Applicants must have a viewable digital portfolio. Google Drive folder links are preferred; make sure sharing settings are set to "Everyone with the link can view" before submitting. Social media profiles will not be accepted.
Choose your portfolio pieces carefully. Portfolios should be curated to each application and thus should have hand-picked work that best meets our criteria.
Portfolios may not contain NSFW content. Artistic nudity and light gore is acceptable, but portfolios containing suggestive content or heavy gore will not be reviewed.
Portfolios do not have to contain Legend of Zelda work, but is highly recommended. Let us see how your style translates into the Legend of Zelda style! Don't fret if you don't have any work related to the Legend of Zelda.
All artwork must be your own. Portfolios containing AI-generated content will not be reviewed.
Moderator Application Guidelines
All moderators must be 21+ years of age. Applications by individuals younger than twenty-one will not be accepted.
Moderator experience is recommended, but not required. We will prioritize moderator applicants who have prior experience moderating zines, but this does not mean we will discard applicants that have never moderated before.
Critique experience is required. Art, writing, and merch mods will be critiquing contributor work throughout the duration of this project. Other mod positions may critique contributor work if they please, but all mods will be required to review contributor portfolios and provide comments.
Moderating is a hefty task. Please do not apply if you are not ready to dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to this project.

Portfolio must contain 3–10 pieces. Portfolios containing less than three or more than ten pieces will not be reviewed.
Portfolios must contain at least one piece with a fully-rendered background. Abstract shape, pattern, or solid-colored backgrounds do not meet this criteria.
Artwork must be drawn in the style you intend to use for the project. Do not submit artwork in a style you are unwilling to work in or replicate.
Artwork should be high-quality. All screen-only artwork must be minimum 72 DPI, and all print-only artwork must be minimum 300 DPI.
Page Artist Application Judging Criteria:
Consistency in art style.
Understanding of anatomy, including variations in angles, poses, and interesting figures.
Good eye for composition and understanding how to format an illustration.
The ability to capture tone and atmosphere, especially through color.
Understanding of lighting and rendering.
Understanding of perspective and backgrounds.
The ability to tell a story through a single page or spread.
Confidence in drawing backgrounds, props, and elements other than figures.
Confidence in drawing multiple figures, especially when interacting.
Writer Application Guidelines
Portfolio must contain 2–5 works with 1.5K–3K words. Portfolios containing less than two or more than five pieces will not be reviewed. Combined, your portfolio should not exceed 3K words.
Samples must be written in the style you intend to use for the project. Do not submit writing samples in a style you are unwilling to work in or replicate.
Samples are encouraged. Feel free to cut or pull samples from longer works in your portfolio.
Portfolios must be written in English. American English and British English are both accepted.
Text must be legible. Do not submit work in illegible typefaces.
Writer Application Judging Criteria:
Consistency in writing style.
Distinct and engaging writing style.
Correct grammar with consistent tense and voice.
Ability to portray mood and tone through text.
Engaging storytelling through dialogue and prose.
Merch Application Guidelines

Fully-realized merchandise is preferred, but not required. If you have examples of physical merch, please show us!
Mockups are preferred, but not required. If you do not have physical mockups, please show us digital ones instead.
Artwork should be high-quality. All screen-only artwork must be minimum 72 DPI, and all print-only artwork must be minimum 300 DPI.
Merch Artist Application Judging Criteria:
Consistency in art style.
Understanding of anatomy, especially in simplified form.
Understanding of silhouettes, especially in simplified form.
Examples of past merchandise, such as but not limited to, acrylic keychains, sticker sheets, enamel pins, and prints.
Special Artist Application Guidelines
Portfolio must contain 3–10 pieces. Portfolios containing less than three or more than ten pieces will not be reviewed.
Portfolios may contain any non-traditional, non-2D artwork. This includes, but is not limited to, cosplay, sculpture, fibers art, textiles, and music.
Artwork must be created in the style you intend to use for the project. Do not submit artwork in a style you are unwilling to work in or replicate.
Artwork should be high-quality. All screen-only artwork must be minimum 72 DPI.
Special Artist Application Judging Criteria:
Consistency in art style.
The ability to capture tone and atmosphere, especially through color.
Understanding of lighting and composition.
The ability to tell a story through a piece of art.
Failure to abide by the above rules and guidelines may result in removal from the zine.
What is a zine?
The term "zine" is short for "fanzine." A zine is a small-circulation, independently published booklet that is typically noncommercial and often homemade. Zines usually specialize in or are devoted to a niche subject matter and audience. Basically, zines are booklets full of fanwork!
Is there an age limit for contributors?
Yes. All contributors must be 18 years old.
Will this project be age-appropriate?
Yes, this project will be age-appropriate and Safe For Work. There will not be any gore or nudity in this project.
How many contributors will you be accepting?
This project does not have a maximum amount of contributors to be accepted.
Do I need prior zine experience to apply?
Not at all! If you've never participated in a zine, now's your chance!
Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes. You may apply for multiple roles, but will only be accepted for one.
What is a pinch-hitter?
A pinch-hitter, or backup artist, is a contributor who can fill in a spot in the case that a contributor drops from the zine. Please be wary if you are applying as one, as pinch-hitters may have tightened deadlines and overall less time to complete their pieces.
Can I reuse a piece for this zine?
No. All work used in this zine must be made explicitly for this zine during our creation period.
Is this a digital or physical zine?
This is a physical zine.
Is this a paid zine?
Yes, this is a paid zine, meaning you must pay to purchase a copy of the zine in order to view it.
Will there be merchandise?
Yes, there will be merchandise available to purchase once preorders open.
What currency are the prices in?
All currency is in USD (US Dollars).
Where can you ship to?
We can ship worldwide. Please keep in mind that shipping to areas outside of the US may incur additional costs.
Will contributors receive any profits?
No, artists will not be compensated monetarily for their work, as all profits are going towards charity.
Will contributors receive a free copy?
Yes, all contributors will receive, at minimum, a free copy of the zine. Depending on profits, contributors may also receive a free merch bundle. In the event that we are unable to cover merch bundles for all contributors, contributors will be able to purchase merch bundles at a discounted price.
What charity will this project support?
This charity that this project will support has not yet been chosen.
How will contributors communicate with the mod team?
Application results will be disseminated via email. Upon acceptance, all contributors will receive an invite link to our Discord server, which they are required to join. We will mainly communicate via this server.
